Joshua Sanders - Financial Behavior Coach | September 4, 2025
When I first started using EveryDollar, I really struggled. I just couldn't seem to get the hang of it like everyone else. I kept trying to compare it to other budgeting apps I'd used before, like YNAB and GoodBudget. It felt that I was alone with these challenges because everyone keep talking about how they really enjoyed this budgeting app. But even with all those problems, I always found myself coming back to the app.
Yeah, call me stubborn—a trait that has only deepened since becoming a Ramsey Preferred Coach. How could I effectively guide others through their financial struggles if I couldn't conquer my own biggest hurdle? This personal conviction is the driving force behind "Bootstrapping Everydollar," a new series I'm launching. In this series, I'll openly share my biggest obstacles with the app and detail the strategies I've used to overcome them. My top five "Everydollar headaches" that I'll delve into are:
Starting Mid-Month: What do you do when you're halfway through the month and want to jump into EveryDollar?
Dealing with Transactions: How to sort, track, and double-check your daily spending and how to handle any duplicate entries so your financial picture stays clear.
Using Funds: How to use EveryDollar's "funds" feature to hit your savings goals and cover those irregular costs. How can you avoid any unexpected money surprises?
Planning Paychecks: How to use the paycheck planner to map out when your expenses will come due.
Closing Out the Month: How to wrap up your monthly budget, figure out what went well (and what could be better), and how to get ready for next month's budgeting.
Good news! EveryDollar has lots of resources for its users. They have a help page that tells you how to do things. You can also pay for 1on1 support. If you like to watch videos, they have many free ones on YouTube to show you how to use their tools and save money. Plus, there are workshops you can take to learn even more and get help from other people.
Come with me as I learn about Everydollar! We will use this app to reach big money goals: pay off debts, save money, feel less worried about money, stay away from bankruptcy, and build wealth. I want to live a happy life without worrying about money.
Make sure to follow the "Bootstrapping Everydollar" series to learn alongside me as I unravel the full potential of this powerful budgeting application.
